Important Warning
Trading in securities involves substantial risk of loss. The value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may lose some or all of your investment. Algorithmic trading carries additional risks including technology failures, execution delays, and model errors. Please read this entire disclosure carefully before using TechLock.
1. About This Disclosure
This Risk Disclosure applies to users of TechLock, the algorithmic trading platform developed and operated by TechLock. By using TechLock, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted the risks described herein.
2. Market Risks
- Volatility Risk: Stock prices can fluctuate significantly due to market conditions, economic factors, corporate announcements, and global events. Prices can move rapidly in either direction.
- Liquidity Risk: You may not be able to exit positions at desired prices, especially in low-volume stocks or during market stress.
- Systemic Risk: Market-wide events such as crashes, circuit breakers, or trading halts can affect all investments simultaneously.
- Gap Risk: Prices can gap significantly between trading sessions, potentially causing losses beyond stop-loss levels.
- Intraday Risk: Intraday trading strategies carry heightened risk due to rapid price movements and timing sensitivity.
3. Algorithmic Trading Specific Risks
- Technology Risk: System failures, server outages, internet connectivity issues, or software bugs can prevent order execution or cause unintended trades.
- Model Risk: Trading algorithms may not perform as expected in all market conditions. Historical backtesting does not guarantee future performance.
- Execution Risk: Orders may not execute at expected prices due to slippage, latency, or market conditions. Automated orders may execute at unfavorable prices.
- Strategy Risk: Algorithmic strategies can generate losses, especially in unusual market conditions or when market dynamics change.
- Over-optimization: Strategies optimized for past data may perform poorly in live markets.
- Flash Crashes: Algorithmic trading can exacerbate rapid market movements, potentially causing sudden large losses.
4. Broker and API Risks
- Broker Connectivity: Connection issues between TechLock and your broker can prevent order execution.
- API Limits: Broker API rate limits may affect strategy execution during high-activity periods.
- Token Expiry: Broker access tokens expire and require renewal; failure to renew may interrupt trading.
- Broker Failures: Your broker's system issues are beyond our control and may affect trades.
5. No Guarantee of Profits
PAST PERFORMANCE IS NOT INDICATIVE OF FUTURE RESULTS.
- No trading strategy guarantees profits.
- Backtested results may not reflect real-world trading conditions.
- Demo mode performance may differ significantly from live trading.
- You should only invest money you can afford to lose entirely.
- Do not trade with borrowed funds or funds needed for essential expenses.
6. Leverage and Margin Risks
- Trading on margin amplifies both gains and losses.
- Margin calls may require immediate additional funds.
- Positions may be liquidated without notice if margin requirements are not met.
- Intraday leverage is higher but carries greater risk of rapid losses.
7. Options Trading Risks (If Applicable)
- Options are complex instruments with significant risk of total loss.
- Time decay (theta) can erode option value regardless of price movement.
- Selling options carries theoretically unlimited risk.
- Options strategies may require advanced understanding.
